Schedule Updates - frequency changes, resume/suspend routes, etc (Aug 2021 onwards)

my YYZ-PUJ flights in October for rouged away from mainline today. Things must be ramping up enough for AC to save $ on crew costs again.

//I do understand that some on FT would argue Rouge J is the same product as mainline.

“There are signals that the transatlantic recovery will be pretty robust … We’re hopeful that sometime in 2022 or 2023 we’ll see a meaningful recovery in Asia and Australia.”

Looks like SFO-YYC isn't starting when it was supposed to. Sigh.

hollywoodcory17 Aug 23, 2021 7:17 pm

Yup, YYC down to just PHX and LAS in November to the US.

I expected EWR/PDX to remain suspended, but seems kinda odd IAH is still being pushed back.

Transport Canada is suspending passenger flights to/from Morocco between Aug 29 and Sept 29th, which will impact AC’s YUL/CMN flight.

In response to member feedback about needing to reduce the size of some of our mega-threads, this thread has been carved out from the COVID schedule change/waiver thread.

Please use this thread to discuss routes that are being resumed, or where suspensions are being extended. A dedicated thread exists for purely new routes that AC has not flown before.

As members have requested a larger number of more focused threads, let's please keep this thread to the subject of the schedule updates themselves, and leave questions on schedule change policies, how to fix an individual itinerary, and so on, in the current thread.

A whole bunch of routes that are currently suspended were pushed out at least a couple months somewhere in the last few days.

All of the following were previously scheduled to resume October 31. New resumption dates (well, months) in brackets, all in 2022:

YYC-YCG (May)

YVR-YZF (January)

YEG-YLW (May)
YEG-YZF (May)
YEG-YQU (January)
YEG-YMM (January)
YEG-YXE (January)
YEG-YWG (January)

YOW-YQM (January)
YOW-YFC (January)

Perhaps a dumb question;

Is there anywhere (other than the giant schedule PDF), to see in brief AC's international routes from YVR / YYZ / YUL for Sept - November?

https://www.aircanada.com/ca/en/aco/.../covid-19.html . Select "where we fly" and then look at "current and upcoming routes" on the second half of the page.

Great, thanks. And any idea when Nov schedules released?

Flights get added to the schedule a year out, so there's already a November schedule.

Given the volatility of the past 18 months or so, you can't fully rely on anything AC publishes, whether on the page linked by @StuMcIlwain or in the big PDF schedule, until a couple weeks out. AC has proven ruthless in cutting flights due to lack of demand, sometimes even a few days out.

When they do first put some November flights on that page, you should still consider it to be somewhat aspirational and subject to further adjustment.

For sure. Mostly trying to get an idea of which routes they're *hoping* to operate.
Trying to book a multi-city YVR > Europe > YVR but arriving and departing from 2x separate spots.
Might have to play it safe and book FRA / LHR...

They made a bunch of changes to the winter schedule (which includes November) within the past couple of weeks. What's on the schedule now is probably what they "hope" to operate. But even if you wait until October 15 to book, they might still make changes that impact you.
