Booked Standard, showing as Basic
 

Hello,

A couple of days ago, I booked an Economy flight on AC from Canada to the US. During the booking process on the Air Canada Website, in the confirmation e-mail, and in the attached Air Canada Booking Confirmation PDF all segments show(ed) as Economy Standard.

However, when I check my booking on the Air Canada website, my itinerary is suddenly showing as Economy Basic. I can't find the fare code anywhere, but during the booking process it ended in TG.

I did not book Basic and I don't want Basic. Is this a known issue with the Air Canada website? What should I do?

Similar situation - my guess is the mapping is messed up on some fares with how they display when you look them up again. I have a few tickets that I swore were booked in Economy Flex and when I go to manage my bookings show as Standard now. I took CC's advice above and looked at Saudia with my ticket no. and still see all the legs showing as FL fares. I will wait and see what ultimately posts and then write in if I need the mileage adjusted.

I checked there, and the fare code has changed from TG to BA. Air Canada switched that out after sending me the booking confirmation!

I have contacted the AC Twitter team. They wanted to see screenshots of my booking (which I provided, from the PDF I had received), and now they have sent the case to the Web Team, whatever that means.

This is troubling, as most people assume that what they book (and explicitly pay extra for) stays intact and doesn't silently change to a cheaper fare. Please update us on how it goes.

AC surely is taking their time to fix this. They tell me they are "investigating". Good, they should, but I don't feel like I should have to sit this out.

While I generally like people who bring the law into these matters, Hanlon's razor is almost certainly correct here. None of that law would apply.

If it's a mistake and they fix it, I would agree. However, it's been a week and they haven't fixed it. They even refuse to call me back.

They were also trying to tell me that I would not get any of the *A Gold advantages with Standard Economy anyway.

They now say they would allow me to change the ticket for a fee - which is a start, but still not what I paid for.

They did this to one of my recent segment run trips. Luckily I checked the next day after booking and noticed it changed from fare basis TG to BA. I was able to cancel it within the 24 hour window... But yes, the original itinerary PDF all listed Standard. Very sleazy.

This happened to me twice but it was:
Flex to Standard
Corporate TA

I thought it was corporate TA over-ride so did not say anything

This happened to me on a trip YXU-YYZ-MUC RT. I have the PDF showing Economy-Standard but when my flights posted to Altitude it is showing as BASIC.

Can someone post screenshots of the Before and After (can be initial PDF and then how it shows online or saudia.com or whatever)? (TG -> BA or any other like FL->TG)

When you say you "did get the flex aqd and aqm", was this after filing a missing aqd form, or did it just post naturally as flex without any intervention?

I'm also curious what others' fare bases are/were that show these discrepancies.
