Spring has bruought a big improvement to AC - finishing March at 65%
Still the worst carrier in North America by far - but better than last month!

Well April’s OTP will be just a little bit worse because last night in YUL a FA elected to deploy the emergency chute at the gate. For anybody wondering that is a four hour fix to replace.

Oops. I imagine that resulted in a lot of paperwork.

I would imagine. Paperwork and $30k or more as I got the impression they are a single use item. The GAs were quite surprised and had to go have a good look. I don’t think they believed it at first. I wish I had got a picture because it certainly doesn’t happen everyday.

Forgot to disarm before opening the door?

No idea. I was wondering how it could happen and that makes sense. Boarding was too busy this morning for me to ask the crew.

Hopefully it opened outside and not inside.

Would have been a sight to see. I would have burned some e-ups to take a ride.

If you saw the show on the 747 D check at British Airways it shows the slides being shop tested, but they are reusable. Apparently takes 3 guys 6 hours to refold it to put back in the container! From 14:00:

Not quite as straightforward as D-checks are done in a controlled environment. This deployment was in an area that could compromise the structure of the slide, so it isn't as easy as just wrapping it back up and re-installing it.

FA don’t open the doors. I guess that will teach to gate agent to check before opening her/his next door. Agent luckily she/he didn’t kill themselves.

I have seen FAs open the doors sometimes (usually when it seems like the GA is having an issue).

But yes, I feel like there's often a knock, then before the FA gives the thumbs up signal, the door starts opening.

+1 When I've bothered to look, that seems to be the process.
