Channel 9

Every time I fly UA, I always enjoy listening to channel 9/Aircraft Control (If it is turned on). What are the chances of AC having their own " Channel 9" on their entertainment system?

No live in-flight channel

//though With AC into SFO, you can find saved clips on the news or liveatc.net when they line up for the taxiway or don't respond to go-around commands.

I used to do this all the time back when I flew UA regularly, and was bummed to discover AC didn't offer this. I'll have to start mentioning it in all those post-flight surveys...

Many of us have asked this over the years here... IIRC even as far back as 2003 or even before that... and it's always been the same sentiment/responses... I like the Channel 9 feature as well.
Or even a live takeoff feed that some airlines do on the IFE screens.

Really? Who? That would be awesome to see. I love the multiple cameras on LHs A350s.

OFTOMH, SK does this - but not all flights and aircraft, AFAIK. (yes, from personal experience)

OZ, TG, and CX as well. As you note, not all the time.

Ah yes, I remember OZ as well doing that.

Anyway, here's to hoping for another 10-15 years that AC will have a "Channel 9" channel.

One more vote for this ... I always listened to UA's channel 9 when I could.

Why this is so controversial, given that anyone who logs into liveatc.net *can* listen... I don't know. I can only presume it has something to do with second guessing the plane's choice of landing strip

I flew HX last week, and they have both a camera above the fuselage at the tail, and one under the nose. Lovely watching at takeoff and landing.

Was it an A350? I've only seen it on that metal on LH, but then I've only ever flown an A350 with LH. Wasn't sure if it was specific to them or was on all/some A350s.

Expected Air Canada reply:

"What is this channel thing you speak of?"
