Air Canada biz availability limited to Aeroplan ONLY?

Tried searching if this was posted already...

Random date of July 10th YYZ-FRA shows biz class available on Aeroplan, but that biz is not visible on United, LifeMiles nor ANA. Am I missing something obvious (other than YQ shock of AE)? Econo awards are showing same across all sites.

Did Air Canada suddenly start to throttle their own awards?

My personal experience is the AC flights often show up when using IKK

I don't even have AE status, let alone AC one... no IKK (had to search for definition).

If not for huge YQ, I would book all 8 (EIGHT???) seats available.

Are you trying to book a trip for 8 people? 440k miles seems really low for 8 business class tickets..

Edit - thanks @jasdou - for some reason I was thinking this was round trip...

55k is the published price per pax for one-way in J to Europe.

Something's odd, as that inventory isn't even showing on Expertflyer.

AC gives Aeroplan expanded access because Aeroplan pays AC more than other partners for the same seats.

This has been going on for quite a while. There was a OMAAT article about it a year ago.

I2 on Aeroplan is not the same as I2 on EF.

Another AE IT feature? Where on earth are they finding 8 class "I" seats? When booking only one seat, it allows me to proceed all the way to payment page, so not sure when it will (if it will) error out.

And I missed that article and never before encountered AC space that was not visible elsewhere. Odd that this is not widely known, or at least publicised more on flyertalk. I guess those AC YQs make the learning of this bit... almost useless?

IME, there are definitely times when AC award seats are available on Aeroplan but not on other partners.
So Aeroplan does get expanded award inventory for AC flights.
Btw this is not IKK but just regular award seats being available for non-status folks on Aeroplan.com.

I've run into several cases where YYZ-SFO/LAX or the reverse has no X/I via MP but does via AP. Its always been a thing in general, but I keep running into it on routes where I never used to, so I do wonder if any changes have been made to the inventory availability in the past year or two.

Arrangements between AC/AP and other Star Alliance carriers are generally barter in nature, ie: no cash actually changes hands. So the only way of resolving imbalances is through throttling, ie: altering the percentiles of seats exposed to other programs.

Aeroplan pays AC more than other partners for the same seats.

Aeroplan doesn't pay anything. They merely deplete their entitlement per the agreement, expiring in 2020, that set Aeroplan up in the first place to be spun off as an income trust.

This is what I was literally told by AC. I don't know why you expect me to believe you over someone who manages the program.
