AC Y seats for 4400 Aeroplan Miles + Tax to Calgary - Heathrow early 2018
AC is offering up Y seats for 4400 Aeroplan Miles + Tax to Heathrow from Calgary in the first couple of months of 2018 on nonstop flights. The taxes amount to $634 which is nothing new, but where one is looking to redeem miles on this sector, good savings to be had.

I thought the same and checked (not that I want to fly Y but one never knows…). Still ridiculously high YQ for SE's so you rightly noted "This "deal" is not a deal."

I assume the YQ amount is the same one on paid tickets. I wonder why airlines do such low base fare / high YQ pricing. It's not just to screw over people who want to redeem their miles, is it ? I've seen some fares with absurd construction like $10 base fare and $400+ YQ

YYC-LHR (rt) for 16,300 Aeroplan Points???
My friend was telling me he managed to book a trip home to the UK (YYC-LHR, return) for 16,300 Aeroplan points. I didn't believe him. He checked his records and sure enough, he did so on November 14, 2017 for travel this week. He can't remember the number of points per direction but he was pretty sure one way was a mere 2,000 points. Is this some sort of glitch or was there some kind of ridiculous Aeroplan promotion late last year that I completely missed?
