2015 Segment Count
Lot's of talk about the folks who rack up big AQMs each year, but what about those of us who rack up the segments (AQS or equivalent). Someone described it as Comfort Warriors vs Road Warriors.
Looking for the number of segments you will fly in 2015. Doesn't matter if AC or other airline, and doesn't matter what class, or whether it was paid, or on points. It looks like I will have 211 segments in 2015, which equates to 133 1-way flights. About 202 of those segments were on AC, and would have earned approx 101,784 AQMs had they all been Flex purchases, or just over 500 AQM per segment. As I fly on an unlimited flight pass I do not earn AQS or AQMs per flight. I have been tracking manually to prove that unlimited flight pass is cheaper than buying flex tickets. |
A bit over 100k Q miles. 34 segments.
|
I've got ~46k from 61 segments and all on AC. I have 4 more segments this year which will add ~15k AQM from flying UA.
The large majority of my AC flights are on DH3s. If not for a TATL trip, plus a couple of flights across the country, I would have averaged under 500 miles per segment. My regular YXT<->YVR trip clocks in at 431 miles. |
27k AQM on 58 AQS
2 more AQS for about 2,800 AQM left this year Approx. 30k AQM on 60 AQS for avg. 500 miles/segment travelling YMM-YQM. |
From flightmemory....

Like tracon, I'll just do a copy+paste from FlightMemory...
In Miles 148,403 In Kilometer 238,831 Earth Circumnavigation 5.96 x Distance to the Moon 0.621 x Distance to the Sun 0.0016 x Hours 328:18 Days 13.7 Weeks 2.0 Months 0.46 Years 0.037 All 113 Domestic 32 Intra-Continental 50 Intercontinental 13 Other flights 18 # Airline Amount % 1 Air Canada 62 54.9 % 2 United Airlines 13 11.5 % 3 American Airlines 8 7.1 % 4 Air New Zealand 6 5.3 % 5 Winair 4 3.5 % 6 Finnair 4 3.5 % 7 Lufthansa 3 2.7 % 8 Delta Air Lines 2 1.8 % 9 Jetstar Airways 2 1.8 % 10 Avianca 2 1.8 % This, by the way, resulted in 162K AQM, of which 111K on AC. |
102k is AQM. 62 AQS
Will be at the end of the year: 107 AQM and 67 AQS |

Segment counting is a different can of worms from milage. I have 71 segments this year so far, everyone a direct flights. If I had segment flown, I could have easily had over 140. Maybe a better way would count fare bases over segments?

No need to brag about how you had it easier on your way to re-qualifying with your direct flights.

It's not about bragging.
Lowest AQS for me was 29 to requalify for SE, hate the fact that I have alreay flown 40 segments and still haven't crossed 100K because of flying more cheap Tango (will happen after the holidays!) |
26K AQM / 100 AQS - 95 AC (63 EYW) & 5 UA and I haven't even spend $9K... so, I will go back and target E50K for 2017.
