Cow you don't look like a kid, what's in a kids meal that beats an adults one?

The other day at work, my boss's wife asked if I was old enough to drink before pouring me champagne.

And I'm pretty immature.

Pictures!!!!!! I wanna see the children's meal!!!!

Mostly this. We all know what all the other meals are, but no one knows what this is.

Worst case scenario, it sucks, I'll ask for a pizza from the back, and if they don't have any, I'll throw a tantrum.

I believe my original post was a result of AC IT being stupid :td:

So YYZ YEG upgraded to J a few days ago - shows NLML without me calling in
And Maradori just upgraded me on the YEG YYZ return right now, now it shows no SPML at all

:td: :td:

There was such a small hope for AC!

I called in just now to order my SPML. At the end, the agent says "would you like me to send you an email confirming the special meal request?"...I was like...uhh, yeah, that'd be great!!

<Hang up the phone>

Go to inbox, see email. It's just an email containing my Itinerary. No mention of a meal.

:td: Good job AC...<le sigh>

For breakfast, the CHML is usually pancakes or scrambled eggs depending on where the meal was loaded (I may have seen once French toast sticks). For lunch/dinner, I have seen chicken nuggets/fingers or pasta with tomato/cheese sauce. Often, the tray for the CHML has more stuff than the regular tray...

Throwing a tantrum over a children's meal.... sounds appropriate. :D

Never bothered to fake pictures of my kids meals, but they have been the following sample taken from the 12 business flight trips they have taken over a lunch or dinner menu.

Chicken strips/fingers with carrots celery and dip

Most common one was the macaroni and cheese with carrots celery and dip.

:)

I just sent a tweet to see if they can do it that way. Another benefit of social media: you're allowed to use it when on board :p

Edit:

Hi Scott, the request was added to you file for your return flight as the deadline is not met for your flight today. /cl
I would have been very impressed if they had managed to get a meal on the flight that I've been on for the last three hours :p

But this is definitely easier than calling in :D

Chickens don't have fingers........

Perhaps a more accurate description would be formed chicken fat.
Depending upon the supplier, these "chicken" items found on airlines can contain up to 50% chicken fat with large portions of chicken by products such as blood vessels & arteries, mechanically pulverized cartilage, connective tissue & bone, skin and approximately 18-22% "meat", all glued together in a liquid dominated by preservatives, flavourings and sodium. The taste they have is not chicken but the chemical additives that compensate for the natural flavours lost during the processing. They are quick fried and flash frozen.

Ok, sure, someone's going to say stop whinging. Well, these types meals have been roundly criticized by dieticians and nutritionists. The practical solution is to offer actual chicken breast strips lightly breaded and baked. Unfortunately, these are more expensive and many consumers have been trained to eat only high fat/high sodium products. Airlines will not offer better food as long as customers happy with the lower quality crap.

I have the opposite. Last few times I have travelled I have had a SPML show up and I have never ordered one. I think it was a gluten free meal. At check in at my last flight I had to make sure there was no SPML!

Maybe someone is playing a joke on you. I have been guilty of ordering a few "special" meals for friends.

Would right before I depart on Saturday be a good time?

I don't think you can. Not enough time between your first leg and return leg.

And in some parts of the world, sausages are made from recycled newsprint.

And please don't bring up these shrimp farms. Shrimps are not what they used to be anymore.

As to tilapia, it has more saturated fat than ground beef.

Uh, well, I already posted that I did it :p

They want 18 hours notice, and there's about 24 from landing to departing, so that wasn't an issue.
