Were you the poor bugger checking in behind the family of four that took forever in the SE line? Felt bad for you.

Haha...ya that was me!
One good thing yesterday was 807 left CDG on-time and arrived YVR early which is always a bonus.
BTW I took the chicken and it like shoe leather (over heated), I'm finding lately the so called International Business class product is sub par.

Just a reminder that the thread is about passengers behaving badly in-flight so let's return to that discussion please.

July 21st, Flight 1592, dog loose in the galley. No leash. No carrier. Being held by the flight attendant. While other FAs and the owner looked on. How nice. Lovely health code violation there AC. And I have a strong suspicion the animal belonged to the relative of a pilot. No it wasn’t a service dog.

Time for a quiet word in TCs ear then, if your suspicion is even half true.

Guy just got on AC845 reeking like he had smoked ALL the cigarettes in Germany. The smell lingers... And I realize he's sitting right behind me. This is going to be a long flight.

I get that some people are addicted, but there's having a smoke and then there's this, which is just an assault on the senses of everyone within a 10-foot radius. Absolutely disgusting.

That sounds awful...

Reminds me of a CBC article I saw a while ago where a man was removed from an AC flight for having such bad BO.

There are some cigarettes left, unfortunately.

He probably spent the whole layover in one of these „smoking lounges“, i.e. glass cubes filled with smoke and super addicts.

Hopefully the a/c of the plane will keep the smoke away from you. Sitting next to him would probably be more problematic.

This is interesting to me.

As admitted frequently here, I am a very heavy smoker. I do not get concerned when taking a flight ex-Canada or US because by the time I get on board it has been at the very least 45 minutes since I had a cigarette.

When ex-EU? It's probably been 15 minutes since I had a LOT of them, in a glass cube as pointed out up thread, especially in FRA where the smoking "lounge" is so close to the AC gate. I'm an addict, it's my problem, and I have a right to smoke in designated areas. Having said that, I have not spent enough time thinking about how it affects others and this is a good reminder, so thanks.

I'm not going to stop smoking before getting on board, but I can make the last one a little earlier, throw a clean shirt on, wash my hands and face and chew about 8 pieces of gum. Will that suffice?

You forgot the mouthwash and wee bit of deodorant. :-)

I carry a Vicks nasal inhaler to mask that and other random smells that might catch me unawares.

Oct 30 - AC186 - YVR-YYZ

Drunk and belligerent pax in J. When the person boarded to his seat in 1K, I was across the aisle and farther back in 2G. The first thing I heard him loudly exclaim was "JFC!" (not the acronym) because the overhead bin above his seat was full. About an hour into the flight, the real crap began. He was raising his voice, swearing (f-bomb was every second word), slurring, stumbling and attempting to disassemble his seat in order to retrieve his cell phone that had fallen into the seat. He was given informal and formal warnings by the crew, and the crew did their best to keep the situation from escalating. He kept yelling at the crew to leave him alone and that he was going to be "completely screwed" when maintenance takes "12 hours" to retrieve his phone from the seat. He then mostly sat in his seat occasionally dropping loud f-bombs, complaining about his crappy life and kicking/punching the frame of the pod.

I'm shocked that the plane wasn't met by law enforcement when we arrived in Toronto. But I'm particularly grateful that we didn't need to divert, especially when we were over the US.

It's interesting that the difference between "behaving badly" and an "incident" is the crew's decision on what to do.

I'm sure there's a discretionary element, but I'd be curious how the crew are trained to decide when to escalate.

The threshold is when someone goes from saying "I'm going to be F' when it takes 12 hours to get my phone" to "you're going to be F' when it takes 12 hours to get my phone"
