Not sure I understand this correcty...

Looking to upgrade AC195 B fare ticket to Biz using Aeroplan miles.
Expertflyer shows Z=9, but got message "Upgrade not available for this flight" on Aeroplan website!

To upgrade using Aeroplan Miles, via the Star Alliance Upgrade, there must be reward inventory in 'I' class. The Z class availability is only relevant for upgrades using e-upgrade credits.

I thought R class were availability for e-upgrades.

R class is for upgrades from Flex, your 'B class' ticket is Latitude.

I'm new to flyertalk and I've read so many interesting post, I'm learning a lot and in hope that someone could share their knowledge. I'm hitting a roadblock in trying to book with Aeroplan reward program:

One way from YUL to HNL on either April 14 or 15, 2016 in Business class for 2 PAX.

I've checked the Aeroplan site and availability opened up this morning but I get the first leg with AC YUL-LAX in Business but the LAX-HNL leg with UA is in Economy. Seems like I can't get the full trip in Business class and I don't want to use 80,000 points for half the trip in Economy. Should I just wait and keep checking daily if anything comes up in the upcoming weeks (I know I'm early checking this trip availibility)?
Would anyone know if there are alternative routes that are all in Business class?

Hi, can someone please help look up R space on these flights?
AC1 on 30 May. YYZ-NRT
AC2 on 05 June. NRT-YYZ
Alternate if the above flights have no R space and limited J would be
AC3 on 30 May. YVR-NRT

I am on a PE fare and looking to upgrade.

Put in the dates and the fare, and get to the screen that shows you the price. On the upper right hand side, there's a box to select something along the lines of "check to see if I can play aerolotto and upgrade once this year" (you get the idea), select your status, and then you can see. If there's availability for upgrade, it'll show up. Either it's blue (YAY MOM) or it's grey and you are waitlisted.

So waitlisted on both legs. I guess I still need expertflyer to tell me how full J cabin is to get an idea if the eupg will clear at the gate?

Well since AC doesn't oversell J, you can go on ac.com and keep upping the # of seats until the flight doesn't show up at all. It's what I did for my flight back on Sunday. 1 J seat left for my flight. (damn.) :(

Why can the people asking others to look up ExpertFlyer data, just not buy a subscription?

Can you not afford it? Are you just cheap? Like, really?

It's an invaluable tool, with invaluable insight, and well worth the price.

(And this is not a paid endorsement. I've had it for years. Before that, I had the equally valuable KVS tool and gave that up when they never came out with an OS/X version)

Just buy the darn thing, immerse yourself in data, and your life will be better.
