Missing AC FTers
 

Is it just me, or does anyone else miss FTers who used to post here?

I realize some were banned or suspended or kicked out of the "Continuum", but recent posts by others have made me realize what great fund can be had with mental chess, in this case debating the likes of Air Canada, Aeroplan, rouge and all of our related relationships.

So to those of you who are actively here reading or posting, this is just my way of asking where are
flyquiet, TemboOne, diabeetus, among others

(and while i might be risking life and limb, I will add that nothing makes my morning coffee like a post from the likes of Allvest or the long lost tyberius.)

Not gonna lie, I read the OP twice because I couldn't believe his name wasn't there... I miss that guy!

I wasn't here for the Tedgrrrr era, but his posts are archived and I've LMAO reading some of them.

He is not why I started this thread.

That's funny you mention that as I was just commenting to mtnboy "where is TemboOne?". I was curious how everything turned out with his HND/SIN trip last fall...

Quite well at least according to his post when he returned. (it might be in the Dreamliner thread)

I don't want anyone to think that I started this thread because current active AC FT participants are somehow lacking, such that the gaping hole could only be filled by those missing in action.

I was just thinking that in any great discussion or debate, there has to be different experiences and perspectives. While I understand many who post and who used to post more actively here, likely have very busy lives. Others cannot post for whatever reason.

It seemed that Dorian's enlightening thread about why fly AC once you hit 100K got me thinking about how interesting this forum really is, and this is true even if not all views are to everyone's liking. It also reminded me of some of those missing voices.

I know! That's too many times now! great minds think alike.

And stop messing with my thread :D:D:D


So, if any of you know where the missing voices of times past have gone, please let them know some of us would like to hear from them again.

Hi all,

Without a bit of sarcasm, it brought a a tear to my eye that I was specifically mentioned in 24left's now locked thread about missing AC FTers. :)

Mrs Diabeetus went into preterm labor early March, and our daughter was born super premature. 25-weeker preemie, under 2lbs in weight. We've been spending our time pretty much living in the NICU.

We've been very fortunate, however, in that our little girl hasn't had any of the major complications that micro preemies get (i.e. big brain bleeds, severe infections, retinopathy, etc.). We're praying that she'll be one of the lucky ones that gets away without developmental delay or cerebral palsy.

All flights and trips cancelled for the foreseeable future. We had some cheap P-fare tickets to Tucson - the departure date was 3 days after my daughter was born. It was supposed to be our last trip while still within the "safe" flying window while pregnant. If my wife had gone into labor 25-weeks pregnant mid-flight...

I hopped on FT a couple times without posting. Missing out on the deals and talking about recent trips made me feel a bit sad, as I really enjoy travelling. I miss being pampered those times up in J. I miss the little perks that status brought. But I would trade a lifetime of all those things in exchange for guaranteed good health for our child.

I ended my flying year at 21,5084 AQM and 12 AQS, with the date of my last flight as Mar 1, 2015.

I wasn't planning on requalifying for SE this year, but there's a good chance I'll have no status for 2016. In the grand scheme of things, there's ways around it. Latitude flight passes. Z/P fare sales. And in the end, it's not that important.

I'll still be around on FT, but will likely be quieter for the next few months. :)
