Same here. I disembarked after boarding the slave ship and finding a morbidly obese man overflowing into my nice bulkhead aisle seat. AC being AC offered to move me (the SE) to row 54 while fatso got to keep the bulk head seat.

I think Air Canada decided to pretty much get rid of the e-upgrade system, (requiring 26 upgrade credits from PY to J from YYZ-IST is ridiculous. On top of that if you are not SE you need to pay 500$), in favour of LMU. As J cabin starts flying empty AC will likely make LMU more affordable and will be able to create instant revenue as opposed to long-term loyalty.

Take my time boarding as I'm sitting in 12D and no roller just messenger bag. 3 pilots and 2 flights and an empty batter doors close they bring s rouge crew from the back to take the last J seat.

Glad I didn't cheapen their product!

Also last week in January had a YEG-YVR, 5 empty seats in J and my upgrade didn't clear, no one ended up filling those seats. Left with 22 credits that went unused.
These types of tales are what AC Ben's should actually look into and reprimand staff, if needed.

Very shortly we will hear from the AC defenders that will say 'if you wanted to fly J you should have paid for it', so be prepared.

Misappropriation of company resources would be grounds for termination at many companies. Just like falsifying expenses. Oh. Wait. Unions...

Done it several times. When I have asked the SD abot empty J seats and I was waitlisted, I have always been told that I need to go check with the Gate Agent.

I'm not sure where you got this assumption from, but it is not correct. I get off flights a few times a month for various reasons, there has never been a problem. Especially if you tell the in-charge you're going to see the gate agent about a seating issue.

Have seen two people be offloaded (on separate occasions) for this.
Well, if the people are getting off and don't plan to take the flight, then yes, they need to be off-loaded from the flight - so that makes sense.

I get off-loaded each time I walk off and decide to take a later flight, that's just SOP as far as I know.

I feel the need to point out that this validates the business strategy they had for 2014 (including Altitude 2014 and the old eUp valuations). Not the changes they made.

Multiple FA's. HMY used to enforce it all the time, especially during IRROPS.

They were offloaded as they apparently breached this security rule. Two times I've left the A/C before push back (for connection issues) I had to wait for the GA to board and be escorted off. Security regulations were cited. Seen this on OAL as well.

Edit: Here's an Australian example of just walking off the plane after boarding. Got banned from their airline. Too many different experiences to say its a not a rule of some sort.

Well, then it's your fault for not being fat. So there.

Sadly it's MS E50 MM now. The fatso episode happened in my last month of SE status and made me realize how much AC cares for its top tier fliers. I've already done my 100K miles on UA this year (all in Jan/Feb) so am essentially a free agent. JNB trip coming up in early April, and I still don't think it makes sense to credit to AC.

What validates it? The insanely high PE ratio? That's up there in the "tech bubble" range

Ha ha. Good point. AC definitely deserves a P/E 2x Apple.
