People who think they are better than others. For example a few times, I have heard people loudly and point at me saying "this is why I don't like the lounge passes. Parents just give it to their kids". For fun, sometimes I walk by them after with my E50K tag :P
Also in the evening when they run out of cookies (my fav part of the MLL) And on the note of kids, lounges should have a kids area. TG, Qantas all do this and it's a much nicer environment for everyone. pet peeve #35 : the loud group of people, generally from India or China, who talk at peak volume. cant understand the Chinese ones, but the Indians are usually talking about customers projects. i once overheard a conversation about a specific individual at a local bank.. thought of emailing the guy for just a moment:p |
Parents that let their kids tie up all the computers mostly playing games. Major problem at YVR Dom.

I recall some thread a few years back that discussed the whole grossness of grazers at the food. That is a definite peeve.
The popular food items that get totally savaged when replenished is repugnant and humorous at same time. Ravens and hyenas would recoil in fear as a new tray of omelettes is laid out at YVR domestic. I don't like packed lounges and seat hogs. I don't like the drunk groups of rig pigs and Ft Mac types as they head home on break. The YEG lounge can be a goon show at certain times. Have I sought the 'sanity' of the terminal? Yes once or twice. But the drinks are not free so I always go back. Well worn track. Overall - I go back every time. Call me (us) fools. |
Each MLL has different problems :)
YYC: Too crowded multiple times a day (pre-construction and more so during, it's getting a bit better though) YEG: Actually I have virtually no problems with this one, except maybe not enough desk type space YYZ: I hadn't thought of the elevator thing, but yes, that. Also and I can't remember which one (probably not intl since I've hardly used it) but either TB or DOM has no view, just because of the roof, I'd love to be able to see aircraft movements. YVR: Too crowded, too messy, when it's sunny out it gets pretty hot since there's no window dressings. Also there's not really much in the way of food there. Good view though! Can't say I've been in any other ones now that I think of it. I thought YYJ might have one but didn't. The rest of my lounge experiences are either with AV/CM/UA. I'm curious to see the lounges abroad at some point because I'm curious just how similar they are/aren't. |

As long as you keep to yourself, don't stumble around drunk, and don't talk so loud that the other side of the lounge can hear you...... Then you're not bugging me and I don't care what you do.

I think twice in the last year in YVR DOM I come up to the computer and simply tell the child that I need the computer and go tell there parents and I have not had a problem. I was very nice, not nice like the man in the white van, but nice and parents in these two cases anyways probably new their kid had their allowable 20 minutes and I need the computer for real work. Funny I was just thinking a few years ago in the lounge in MAD there were seven computers all facing the wall so you can see what people are doing and I said in a loud (American voice) "great seven computers and everyone is playing on F^&*# facebook when real work needs to be done" four computers became free within twenty seconds! :D |

yes.. but not when the keyboard is stashed behind the blank screen, or i can clearly see that its not being used. i've waited to use a PC quickly with people hogging them when they can use their laptops elsewhere. esp when they'e chatting on the phone at the PC stations and not using the PC's. its not rocket science folks.. use some common courtesy.
1. I wanted to sit near the printer, and the only open desk had a computer. 2. I need to be able to check the settings on the computer for the printer's IP address in case I couldn't easily get it working on my laptop. So for about 20 minutes, I sat at a desk, keyboard stash under the monitor. I used the moue for maybe 3 of those 20 minutes. And I consider this perfectly valid.

Really? I usually find a ton of drunks in that lounge, including me :D :D :D
I much prefer the PP there though. :D There's nothing wrong with being drunk in a MLL. It's only an issue when you're loud, rude, obnoxious, etc. |

Sec. 121.575 — Alcoholic beverages. (a) No person may drink any alcoholic beverage aboard an aircraft unless the certificate holder operating the aircraft has served that beverage to him. (b) No certificate holder may serve any alcoholic beverage to any person aboard any of its aircraft who— (1) Appears to be intoxicated; (2) Is escorting a person or being escorted in accordance with 49 CFR 1544.221; or (3) Has a deadly or dangerous weapon accessible to him while aboard the aircraft in accordance with 49 CFR 1544.219, 1544.221, or 1544.223. (c) No certificate holder may allow any person to board any of its aircraft if that person appears to be intoxicated. |
Yes, but how does someone "appear to be intoxicated" I would put forward that it's when people are Loud, rude and obnoxious. :)

If there is an Amex lounge available, I go there instead of the MLL, especially in LGA. |
