@bescobar

Salmon looks impressive. I've had a few excellent salmon and halibut meals to HND, NRT and FRA - but none of my recent AC 3 flights had salmon. Jealous. :D

AC 3 YVR-NRT July 2017

Same peppercorn beef as was on the June menu (post 1605)
Same shrimp appetizer as per my previous AC 3 (post 1618)

I think the Champagne and ice look lovely with the sun reflections. :D

I do not eat shellfish, but took a photo (rinse, repeat)

I don’t eat the bread rolls either. No taste.

Now I will tell you what happens when you have an AWESOME Galley Master.

On my 3+ years of flying this route (AC 3 and 4), he has been the best galley person. I flown with him 4-5 times.

Since this beef and peppercorn sauce was on the menu, again, I asked him if it was possible to have it less well done. He asked if I’d like medium. I said great, thank you.

As a reminder of what dried-out-overdone beef and peppercorn sauce looks like, see my post 1618.

As you can see here, this beef meal was a vast improvement.

See, there are miracles at 37,000 ft. :D

Also skipped the second meal for the same reason as the previous AC 3: the AC 3 before that one had the unsavoury-looking chicken with skin and fat. Ugh.

Still overdone, but looks to be on the border of edible.

Sure, but it was a significant improvement.

Baby steps? :D

This is becoming a bad habit! :D

Was the champagne warm again or did you ask for ice only for the photo op?

Come on AC, why can't you do this? 7 meal options!

It was warm again, just like the last two AC 3 flights. I always ask the crew if it's chilled and they often ask if I want to try a sip first. I accept and while the bottle may feel cold, the champagne was warm. Ugh and yes FWP.

A couple of years ago, one SD on the same route told me that they often have a problem in the summer where the bottle isn't chilled enough on delivery and in the chiller prior to serving. Same SD also mentioned this isn't a problem in the winter, which is true based on my experience.

So, I'm posting the photos because I asked for ice, not because the sun and the ice were pretty. I'd rather have ice in my champagne than warm champagne - which doesn't taste right.

Sometimes I also add orange juice which seems to be cold enough. Mimosa works. :D

The same 7 meal options every single time on that flight.

At least with Air Canada's business class product, there is some decent variety when it comes to meal selections - even though the beef is always overcooked, the chicken dry etc.

The Hawksworth dishes and the variety that come with them make them far more appealing.

Here is a thread from April 2015

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/air-c...t-service.html

It's been asked a few times in a few threads. It's also been posted here that it's been tested. Plus while many here would like to pre-order and be guaranteed their choice, others prefer to make up their mind onboard.

BR gives you that option. IIRC, so does AA. Not sure what BA does and of course SQ has BTC.

Others have posted that it's a problem due to AC IT.

Who knows.

Medium rare requests

@24left

What do you say specifically regarding the medium rare beef?

Every time I make this request I get a big fat no and a look of "how dare you ask for medium rare".

Maybe they're too busy cooking for other super elites. ;)

So what's going on with AC's desert option ex-Canada? We have had this exact chocolate cake for almost 3 years now, only topping has changed. Can it be like outstations where two or three options are rotating?

I think I've only had the dessert once, and skipped it every other time.

I legitimately don't remember what it tastes like lol

Has anyone tried the Hawksworth vegetarian lasagna that is currently on offer? I couldn't bring myself to do it, so just had the overcooked beef with not overcooked asparagus.
