Classic pod vs Studio

I'll be flying J in a 77W LHR-YVR. It appears this three cabin configured plane has different lie flat seats than say the A330. I looked at the specs of each and they seem fairly just about the same. Is this true or is one more comfy/have better IFE over another?

Thanks!

Studio Pod - Better IFE (screen, quality), generally cleaner and newer (some seats do not have aisle access)
Classic Pod - More privacy, all-aisle access, older, generally not as clean. Worse IFE.

Hope this helps :)

Thanks for the info! I read several pages of that thread. Yikes! What is HD? Code for 77W?

High Density. 10 Across seating in Y. Sometimes known as "the cattle hauler".;)

As long as you're not very tall (your feet may feel constricted in the little coffins when the pods are reclined), and don't get the seats that don't have aisle access (or sharing one next to one of those seats), then I find these pods just fine.

Understood I'm 6'1". When I flew UA BF last my feet hit the well wall. Sounds like this may be the case.

Also looks like the rows on the window side that are only one seat go to AC elites and I will see if they are available at the 24 hour mark as it's just me traveling.

Good idea. Singles at the window are best; otherwise, go for a middle seat--you won't then need to have someone crawl over you nor you them.

The D|G options are also good. You don't get the privacy that you do in those throne seats, but both D|G have aisle access so nobody gets woken up. In fact, I prefer the D|G studio configuration when travelling with Mrs. YVR.

Another very small point - since the TVs are fixed in place you can watch TV gate to gate. Kinda annoying to have to shut the monitor for the old pods on takeoff and landing.

The pods have better lie-flat bed length. The studios have horrible lie flat bed length - I cannot lie flat.

Human Degredation!

Window singles are more narrow in the portion underneath the seating in front I believe. I hated it, possibly fine for a day flight but so constricted to sit in there overnight. I have avoided LX and SN since they use this configuration. The TV is the clear improvement but if I am in J its for a good comfortable sleep not to watch something on a screen a fraction of my home TV which is far from technology leading.

I just had my first experience with the studio pods on the 77HD...wow, it sucked! I could list a whole raft of problems...but, in short, it didn't lie nice and flat, width at the shoulders is constrained, hard to adjust seat when lying down, control panel for the seat was not-responsive and doesn't allow you to adjust as much as the classic pods, etc.....I don't know if I'd want to take an overnight flight with these seats again

Disagree 100%.

"Throne seats" have mini deep leg wells so you can't even roll over when sleeping as your feet jam.

Best seats are those marked as handicapped on the seat map with the middle section being optimal so you don't have to deal with climbers.

Throne seats being "P" is a joke.
