I could swear we veered off into a discussion of the acting talents of Billy Bob in another topic, but cannot find it now using the Search routine, so this will have to do.
CNN will feature him tonight in their PEOPLE IN THE NEWS profile series at 8pm EST tonight, Sunday. It is likely repeated after midnight for those in the western part of the continent. Be sure to at least set your VCR before you head off to ORD, Ken. |

Already saw it in SEA.
And for those of you too cheap to rent all those movies, it's a good demonstration of Thornton's chameleon like abilities. They include clips from Sling Blade, A Simple Plan, Monsters Ball and The Man Who Wasn't There. They also highlight is decent abilities as a musician, and his "other" jobs as screenwriter, director, producer, and brain surgeon. Actaully, I might be wrong about that last bit. I'm not sure he was ever a producer. [This message has been edited by Ken hAAmer (edited 06-23-2002).] |
As the resident FT film producer, I can attest to the fact that this profession takes such skill and enterprise that compared to producing, brain surgery is a breeze, as is rocket science...

"**** it Smithers! This is brain surgery, not rocket science! Now hand me that ice cream scoop ..."

Or tonight's (probably a repeat, I don't know any more), Marge is in the Demolition Derby and her helmet comes off and bounces into the crowd. The helmet lands in the Hillbilly Character's lap and he says, "look I caught me a head!", turns it over and says, "aw shucks, someone scooped it out" and tosses it aside. It was amusing.
The ending was funnier, Bart squeezes a can of Duff, it shoots up in the air and down into Homer's mouth, and Homer spends a couple of minutes doing a Popeye imitation (with a little Olive Oyl from Marge). That was funny. Contrast with Family Guy, which can be wickedly funny but seems to be entirely self-(TV-)referential. andrew [This message has been edited by Andrew Webber (edited 06-24-2002).] |
I just love channel 9 on Unitedīs flights.
The banter between the ATC people and the pilots can be very humorous at times. On a recent segment last week from LAX-MIA one of the ground controllers at LAX was a woman with one of the sexiest voices I have ever heard.....one of the pilots was chatting her up like he was in a bar....it was quite funny actually. It sure beats the movies that have been shown in flight recently. As for "Pushing Tin".....I donīt know how accurate it was.......but I really enjoyed the ATC sequences. If you want a laugh, go to any decent search engine and type 'homerisms'. Pure gold.
