Are the Club Empress seats going to serve their useful life on the 767300ER's they're on, or is air canada going to replace them with their "hard as a rock" business class seats??

Andrew Yiu May 29, 2002 10:42 am

They're probably going to stay around until AC introduces the new J seats later on this year and decides to fit them on the 767s as well.

billyeggs May 29, 2002 10:53 am

Would those "new J seats" be the ones currently on the A321? I suppose an international J seat would replace the Club Empress seats.

Andrew Yiu May 29, 2002 11:26 am

No, those A321 seats are for domestic only and would most likely come with all the new A320/A321s. The new international J seats are supposed to be sleeper seats and will come with the new A340-500s that are coming later this year. They will then be gradually introduced on the current long-haul fleet.

Rumour has it that the new international J seats will fold down into beds.

billyeggs May 29, 2002 12:15 pm

Would AC then start charging F class rates to fly in them?

Skyhawk May 29, 2002 12:23 pm

The 767 has always been a favorite of mine even in Y. Still though I find the Y seats on the 200 better than those on the 300.

Some of the J interiors are a little sad these days save the one ex CDN metal I was on last year which looked to be brand new.

Does anyone know if the "reported flat beds " will be similar to BA's which go both directions and go under the next passenger? or more like SQ's which look the best in the ads I have seen.

Hey Empress, they should introduce this product on the YOW-YYZ run! Let us grimey Ontarians work out the kinks before they put it on the HKG run!

Nope... it'll still be 'J'. They are just replacing the current seats with the new ones. I doubt we'll see AC re-introduces 3 class cabins especially with the new J class coming in.

Skyhawk, I too enjoy the seats in 767's in Y to the airbus A319/20/21. I have always liked the old Canadian Seats as well, maybe they remind me of the good old days of competition.

Heard nothing about it. I am guessing it'll be more like SQ's/CX's. I've never been on the BA ones but it's not too appealing from the pictures that I've seen. Looks too cramped. If AC wants to keep the same number of J seats on the A340, they might need to expand the size of the J cabin by shifting the washrooms back.

More incentive to go to HKG at the end of the year to keep your SE status. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

I just think those Club Empress seats are more comfortable. I can never sleep long on those AC J seats [except the ones on the 74C]. AC needs to put more padding in the Exec F seats!!
