AC getting a bit risqué with movies

On a few flights recently I have noticed that Last Tango in Paris was one of the movie selections. I was in J class pods at the time so your neighbour can't see your screen as well but if someone was watching this in Y class it might shock some of their seatmates. Or is there a different movie selection in Y class?

Some folks (not me) would consider this to be soft core porn - I was surprised to see this as one of the options. Brings a whole new meaning to when the FA offers you butter.

You sure it was uncut?

mlbmlb Aug 31, 2013 5:33 pm

It was cut.

wayner92 Aug 31, 2013 5:56 pm

I don't think it was cut - if it was it wasn't cut that much. You saw lots of full frontal of Maria Schneider au naturelle. And the butter scene was not cut.

Nothing wrong with this. Same stuff on TV every minute of the day.

Some are cut, some are edited selectively, some are blurred out. Seen several movies with nudity, and yes, it's awkward when you have a young child beside you.

Some people will complain if it's edited. Others will complain if it's not edited.

I've never been offered butter... it sort of just comes on the tray... :(

Have you seen the move Trance that is currently playing on flights now?

Full frontal nudity without blurring. It shocked me that AC would do such a thing.

Then I thought about it: With the increase in personal video devices, anyone could be playing videos of their choice with AC doing little to manage it.

+1 was surprised in Trance. I don't like when such things happen. Prefer to have the choice of seeing it or not at the least. Makes you feel quite uncomfortable IMHO!

It's amazing how uptight we as North Americans get over a bit of nudity.

After spending a few weeks in Greece traveling with a Spanish girl my eyes were opened to how strange most of us are raised to think about the human body.

Nothing wrong with risqué in my newly opened mind.

+2 for Trance. I was mortified when it came on while watching it in Y.

Don't you have your own IFE even in Y? In which case, surely nobody forces you to watch it?

The movie selection has always been one area where I've thought AC has done a decent job. While discretion is obviously required, good for AC for showing something beyond typical airline movies - the "world" selection especially is usually interesting.
