Changes to UA's program appear to affect SWUs

Don't know how many are visiting the UA Forum these days. As the apparent program of choice for those defecting from Aeroplan, you might wish to read the following thread:

This could make the new SWUs far less useable, and almost on a kin to AC's new rules. While a wide range of fare classes appear to still be eligible for upgrading, making these bookings on the web seems to negate their upgradeability. And while UA res can access many, but not all these fares, there also appears to be a push to raise the price of the minimum eligible fare ticket.

Empress, CC and others who have stated their intention to defect to MP... will this give you pause to think again?

Not at all......MP is still a better program...and UA a better airline...like I said before.......there is also the matter of the product as well....and UA's blows AC's away.

As for stating my intention....I already haved moved my business over. Bought 2 tickets last week.....YYC-GIG and a RTW.

I once posted to a thread that asked for my choices as to what elite benefits were the most important to me...it went like this....

Priority check in
*A lounge access
Priority phone lines
Priority boarding

"I could really care less about upgrades"

And as I will have to pay for an RRC card next year it really doesn't matter....as MLL access is factored into the cost of something anyways.....and AC probably will start charging for that too.

Another thread on the bad news:

Maybe this is UA's way of helping AC stem the defections? More likely, a response to the increasing number of SWUs being sold on eBay.
