Examples of AC IT fail....

This is nothing new.... But maybe a dedicated thread for AC IT dept problem tracking :D

1) Google Buzz has been gone for months, and AC web page still not updated. And for those of you who wonder what's the red X mark between facebook and hotmail icon, that *was* Google Buzz....

2) Changes for CO is well announce ahead of time, and why's the message on main page:
Air Canada Codeshare Flights Operated by Continental.
We are currently upgrading our booking system. Air Canada codeshare flights identified as being operated by Continental Airlines are temporarily unavailable for booking at this time. Please select alternate flights if available. We apologize for any inconvenience.

That's a new one for me. Never noticed anything of the kind.

Started when she was promoted? Or did it start earlier? Later, I don't think so.

As much as I dislike her, you must give her credit for her tenacity vis a vis holding on to her job. Was AC's IT worse than any other airline pre-2000 ? We could always start with Destina and continue from there.....

Can someone explain how their system works? I got an e-mail about eCredits I qualified for three or four days ago; so far they have not shown up in my my account.

So, does someone need to produce a printout in Montreal, walk with it to who knows, YYZ or YVR? Then another monkey inputs the credit on another computer at some point, somewhere?

A job creation program maybe? :D

Anyway, back to the old motto, sounds like AC IT is predicated upon "why make things simple if you can make them complicated?"

(Helps people keeping their job too BTW. I guess I even remember when I used to play that game.)

That bar is an app run by AddThis and is beyond the control of AC.

It's still their website, hard to imagine that they can't influence what AddThis puts up there.

My "Total eUpgrade Credits available" includes 70 that expired at the end of February.

Dorian Mar 6, 2012 3:13 am

Upgrade nominees that were upgraded post Feb 2012 remain upgraded but are gone from my nominee list.

Cannot look up a flight pass flight using booking reference on mobile apps.

ACTT did make an announcement last week that the old nominee list will be removed on March 1st

This is annoying I agree. I wrote to them and rec'd this reply.

We are targetting Mobile Flight Pass to be back online in late March. We apologize for the delay.

Regards,
Air Canada Mobile Team

Why do they say "back online"?
The flight pass feature has never worked or been online.

Also why give the following prompt " undergoing maintenance ". How can you "maintain" something that was never working in the first place?

Mobile Flight Pass is currently undergoing maintenance.
L'application mobile de la Passe de vols est présentement en période d'entretien.

I think the AC app is a great idea, just very disappointed that almost a year later the flight pass feature still does not work.

From what I am told, IBM is doing alot of back-end work for the AC IT department. Maybe they are given a budget and prioritize tasks based on that. I can't imagine that a fully staffed dedicated team would let such junk pass on a daily basis.
