Weather
Hello,
I am a first time "poster" but have used the site to help awnser many questions before. I am leaving YSJ - YUL - LAS this Wendsday and it is announcing 15cm of snow. We are leaving at 6:15 and catching the 8:30 from Montreal to LAs Veagas. So here is my question - since they are announcing 15cm should I try to rebook the day before? Will there be a charge (I dont mind paying the 75 change fee but wouldnt want to pay the difference if fare). Will AC let me do the change without paying the difference in fare? I am sitting in Executive Class but purchased the one with restriction (Executive Class Lowest) Thanks for all the help in advance |
AC will probably not entertain inclement weather measures until the Wed forecast period is clearer. Wed is still far off in terms of forecasting.
The weather forecast could change in that timeframe. If you are very concerned about that day, perhaps you contact AC and learn what the cost of changing itinerary to an earlier date. And welcome to FT :) And good luck in Vegas. |
Thanks! I am thinking of calling them on Monday when its only 2 days earlier. Do you know if on Monday (if the weather is still announcing 15cm) would they change it the day before?
|
I would be more inclined to think that Tuesday's weather forecast would be the factor that determined AC's inclement weather planning for YSJ.
|
Check on Monday, but that's still early in terms of determing whether there will be flight disruptions. It's all dependent on the timing of the weather, so if snow is forecasted to start around noon, you'll presumably have no problem. If it's overnight Tuesday, there may be a delay--but perhaps not. In my view, your best bet is to wait until the day (afternoon) before and check the detailed forecast then.
Have fun in LV and welcome to FT. |

I would check the forecast again Monday as others have mentioned. If the snow is still forecast then for Wednesday, then call AC, tell them of your concern and say you would be happy to change to Tuesday instead. If the snow is forecast and weather disruptions are a concern for AC on Wednesday, and Tuesdays flights had lots of empty seats, then logic would say they would want to change you to Tuesday. Having said that, Tuesday's flights in Exec Class could well be full or close to it by then as all the status frequesnt flyers would be within their upgrade windows and they may have cleared. No harm in trying though. Enjoy LV |
keep an eye on the travel advisory section of the website
|
thanks everyone! I will keep an eye out and hope for the best. We have a 6am flight so hopefully the snow wont be bad at that time! I will give AC a call on Monday (if its still announcing the snow) to try to change my flight for Tuesday!
|
me again - I checked the weather and it changed but not sure if its good or bad
The day before is now 5-10 cm and the day we leave is 10-15 cm of snow... However, Montreal is only announcing 3cm of snow, so I know we are good when we get to Montreal but its to leave from Saint John. Ah this is stressing me out! |
I'm flying YQR-YYZ Wednesday morning and have the same concerns. Yesterday they predicted 15 cm in Toronto Wednesday; now they're predicting 15 on Tuesday and 10 on Wednesday.
That much snow in Regina would have little effect on ops, but it is probably a different story in Toronto. (We're also driving to Niagara-on-the-Lake so there's an extra complication for us, but that's out of scope for the forum. :) ) I'm just venting, really; the advice to you applies to me as well. Jim |
I am calling AC to see my options and will let you know what they say (fingers cross that they are nice) :)
I just called and they told me that they will be updating the system and call tomorrow since they are announcing for that snow. My thinking now is - will they actually up-date?? Does anyone know if they are good at being proactive?? |
if there's no advisories, chances are they are not able to do much
afterall they are accountable for their accuracies of transactions..... if they were able to do some magic, its a token of favour. |
do you know when they put out the advisory? 24 hours or 48 hours before?
