So how does this work in the new e-world?

You buy a flight pass, Latitude, are SE -- can you upgrade at time of booking still? (Yes, I see).

But what about the complimentary 48 hour upgrade?

AFAIK this still works the same. Choice is yours. If you cancel your eupgrade then you get credits back.

Most of the time I would watch loads and make a decision whether to upgrade in advance of the 48 hours with certs or get the "freebie" within 48 hours (or get a different flight). I don't think that will change under the new system. Just hope that recrediting happens as quickly as debiting:cool:

It should work better than before. You can now confirm your u/g in advance with credits, then cancel it if there's still J space at 48 hrs (as long as there's still B space!)

But I presume it means a phone call?

We should be able to do it all online now. There's a "manage your upgrade" button where I presume you can cancel the eUpgrade (haven't tried it yet). Then your flight pass goes back to B class, then you should be able to do the 48 hr complimentary online as usual.

Would that I could get this to work right now. Since the new year, have not had success with online upgrade button for the comp Lat pass Upgrades; I get as far as confirm seat and then all I get is a blank white page; doesn't matter which browser I use. So then I call in and am 100% with the comp Ups.

I am planning on making calls at least in the early days of E-hancement credits to ensure we ride up front with AC's COMPliments. :D

Are there different complimentary upgrade windows for Elites and SEs when using the LHR passes? I have bought a few of these London passes but have never used the freebie option. With eupgrades harder to come by this year I think a freebie or two would come in handy.

No difference. Everyone upgrades at 48hrs out. The trick vs. people who aren't in the know is that you can actually upgrade at 00:00 on departure date - 2 days. So a 23:00 flight on Saturday can be upgraded at 00:00 on Thursday which is a lot more than 48hrs.

Is there anything else we need to watch for? A particular fare class that has space left in order to upgrade?

I've used the LHR pass many times but have never once used the complimentary upgrade without a cert. option.

Same issue here. I am possibly looking at 2 flight pass purchases. (On the other hand, one that I want has R-0 for a bunch of April flights, so I might just go discounted J on CO and United for that set of flight passes. The loss goes to Air Canada on this...)

But for the other flight pass, I want to know that things haven't changed for this type of setup.

Latitude pass 48-hr upgrades are subject only to J space. But I think only the NA passes offer that benefit, I don't see free upgrades listed on LHR pass details page.

I know for my Transcontinental Latitude passes I need to first be able to book space in B class to get on the plane and then as long as there is J > 0 I can upgrade. Since at 48hrs there is a better chance of J > 0 than R > 0 (for your upgrade certs), the upgrades tend to be a bit easier to get (granted I have no experience on the LHR passes).

Those are all my tricks. I'm sure others have more.

So, if I am reading the above postings correctly... this complimentary 48 hour upgrade may NOT work on the LHR passes ??

If somebody has used this on the LHR pass I would love to hear about it.

Looking at the differences in the detailed T&C for the London Latitude Pass vs the Transcontinental Latitude Pass it would seem that there is no complimentary upgrade on the London pass. It also books directly into Y instead of B like the Transcon Latitude pass. The other difference is that the London Latitude pass will get you complimentary MLL access within Canada.

I just assumed that all Latitude passes got complimentary access. It looks like some are more equal than others though.
