Where is the AC arrivals lounge at LHR. Could someone post directions? Is it before baggage claim/security?

It is actually just outside the terminal doors. Go out the doors (past where people come to greet you) and walk maybe 50 feet. It is on the left (still part of the main terminal building, just has an outside entrance) across from the bus pickup island.

The updated web site is also pretty clear that any S/E, E, E/P, or G member can get in as well, which was really the point of my excercise. They now know this is an issue (or should do) and they've essentially done the same thing again.

As well, the agent was adamant -- you will not get in, unless you have an invitation, boarding pass or not.

BTW, would CP planes have the invitations, or are CP members not/not yet allowed to use the arrivals lounge?

The AC website (see the URL in my post above) is explicit--

AC or CP same day arrival from overseas flight for any J class pax, SE, PE or E, G.

Requires boarding pass and card (if not in J). They do not/not mention invitations.

No way you have to have an invitation under the new rules. They would have to have them on every flight into YVR...too much of a headache for a few people.

A boarding pass and card will do. I wish I could test it right now!

I think the best answer would be what Swissair does with their arrivals lounge here in Zurich (where I work) - It's free to SR F and J class passengers, and available for use for SFR 30 (about CA $25) to anyone else who would like to use it.

If you arrive in ZRH off an AC flight, which I do very often, you just go in, pay your money, and they treat you like a king. SR considers that the cash paying customers cover their own expenses (basically, towels, cleanup, coffee and juice), and this provides SR with an opportunity to "strut their stuff" to passengers who travel on competing airlines.

Interestingly, they don't offer the same arrangement for their departure lounges.

Here is another interesting question. My parents are flying from Bangkok to London in Economy. They have a 5 hour stop over before flying on to Scotland. I gave them the two courtesy passes from my Elite package, and a bunch from co-workers. (They don't get international travel, so I had to explain lounges and stuff to them). I told them to use the arrivals lounge. Will they be able to use it with these passes?

I can't believe that my folks will make elite on vavation travel this year. I may not requal given my travel forecast at work this year.

Only ML lounges...no way they will get into any arrivals lounge with certificates....

Not to mention that inbound BKK-LHR they will be on neither CP nor AC, which is a necessary precondition to lounge access.

The LHR - Scotland will go from T1, so the MLL passes won't do them any good their either, alas.

I am not in the least surprised at making E on leisure travel. I can't claim miles for my official travel, and I still make SE easily on my personal flying.
