Just noticed that from W18 (and continuing S19) the flight to DUS will depart at 9:30AM instead of 13:30AM. Too bad, as that means there are no time-suitable Aegean flights any more back to AMS/DUS in the winter time. I'll have to reduce my A3 flights in the winter..possibly down to 0

I noticed that as well, I thought it was nice to have a morning flight to DUS from SKG and an afternoon flight form ATH. Now they will both depart DUS almost the same time.

A3 scrapped flights to Iran (Tehran, IKA) due to the effects of the US sanctions. Too bad as that was a good flight to use the vouchers on since it is relatively long.

Noticed that the ATH-DUB route is operational all the way thru w2 2019 (Jan 7th) even with only one flight per week and goes live again w14 2019.

I think this was not the case last year when operations stopped first week of October and briefly resumed during Christmas period before going to hiatus again.

Saw SJJ but then my heart sank when I realised it was a DH4.

DH4 is arguably better than A3 mainlaine as you can select any seat for free Only 2 weekly flights on the other hand are not very useful for a weekend trip...

Why? It's not THAT long a flight (probably 1hr25 airborne) and I enjoy the chance to fly the DHC4 for a change. Quick boarding, roomy 2x2 cabin etc. and no extra charge for seats near the front, which seems to be a hot topic right now.
SK and KLouis like this.

The key words in that sentence are 'for a change'. If like me or Fabo.sk you had recently done a segment run to get FTL you might think differently. Do the majority of that on the LO side and you will get awfully well acquainted with the DH4. And the other fun thing is the FAs always saying: "I'm afraid your bag is too big, we'll need to tag it for storage in the hold." So when you exit the plane you need to hang around and collect your bags from the trolley on the asphalt. May not seem like such a big deal but last year I did it in the middle of a virtual typhoon in SZZ, with my carry-on at the very bottom of the pile - not so much fun.

Nope, give me an E-jet any time.

Yeah, I see where you're coming from although this flight would be yet another A320 (yawn) if it weren't a DHC8 - or even that dreaded high-density A319 they use on a lot of the shorter routes. SJJ would probably be a perfect A220 (CS100/300) route if A3 were ever to go take that path. Living on Paros I'm also well acquainted with the Dash-8s of course. For the summer we've had 7 per day between here and Athens. Actually, I'm wondering now, is that possible the highest frequency of them on any route in Europe? With the SKG route, we occasionally have three on the ramp at once - a far cry from the single DHC8-100 that only just fit on the ramp at the old airport.

Exactly. However I did just notice (a bit late ) that FR has started flying ATH-EIN. Ryanair is not Aegean in any way, but at least for me, the flight time is much much better: 16:35 departure from ATH this winter season.

So I'm now able to fly out from AMS to ATH on A3 and return to EIN with FR. Thats pretty good to still get my dose of A3 flights this winter!

Prices start at 20 euro by the way. Booked a couple for december/january, the costs for priority (=hand luggage) and seat selection makes it closer to 35...but still great prices. Even if it doesn't include lounge and miles

I remember that until a few years ago the lowest fares on the AMS-ATH route were 220 euro (r/t). Usually paid closer to 280. Its remarkable how much prices have come down since Aegean has started flying this route!
