Since Mannheim won't show up as an option in the retro claim form I could file it myself and asked the nice lady on the phone to do it for me. The confusing part is that she said that the return from Mannheim to Frankfurt can't be filed since it is a train connection but said that the leg from Frankfurt to Mannheim should be fine and filed the claim. I'll let you know how that story ends lol

Well all my retro-claims for the LH train segments were rejected....

Just thought I'd post this...

It books into K. So no miles on A3.

On the other hand, it does earn on a few programs including ANA. So if you need a few miles to re-enable award searching, then this may work.

How many miles on ANA? Is it a cheap way of buying miles?

30% earning on ANA. So.... I would assume somewhere between 1 and 100?

I will likely be able to tell you at the end of the month, although I suspect that'll be a bit late.

NWIFlyer Apr 3, 2016 4:46 pm

Just for reference in the context of searching for award space, given it's heading somewhat off-topic, but it is not necessary to keep a miles balance in ANA - there are still known workarounds to the best of my knowledge. The now archived BMI forum has the details, amongst others.

There is therefore no point in crediting to ANA if that's the sole purpose.

I am considering taking a LH train for a mileage run, yet I am concerned about the fact, that the retro claim might get rejected.

HAs anyone managed to get a retro claim accepted?

KLouis May 29, 2016 9:19 am

As of a few months ago (see posts above), the train books in K fare class with no miles earned. So why bother? Anyway, it would not give you so many miles (no idea how many you'd need).

mrgreen May 29, 2016 10:14 am

The connection FRA-MHJ (Mannheim) costs 25eur per leg and books in Y -> 950 Miles per segment! ;)

Does that actually still works? How is it with the "operated by Deutsche Bahn"? Do no tier miles anyway, right?

Vegitto May 30, 2016 5:35 am

Well I don't know if it ever worked....I tried FRA-MHJ 3 times (2 of those I actually was on the train and my boardinpass was checked) and got no miles. When I tried to retro claim them (I had to call Aegean to do that) I was told that no miles can be earned on this fare......

Air Rarotonga May 30, 2016 2:23 pm

MHJ never worked on A3...

gguniss Sep 9, 2016 1:53 am

how about LH bus? It can be booked on LH webpage (e.g. FRA-XER), shows booking class Y and "Operated by: "Lufthansa". Any chance to get points without "flying"?
