Upgraded on UA - no points to A3?
I just successfully used a certificate to upgrade a domestic flight on UA - new booking class is R which is not eligible for accrual on A3.

Is there no way to get points even from the original booking which was on T?

I have had mixed success with this. Sometimes it posts automatically. If not, sometimes you can get it fixed manually. Sometimes you just give up.

Same thing happened with US before leaving star alliance.

keep the old receipt showing T class and mail than in; more likely than not you won't see any automatic credit.
