Booking a non-smoking room

Recently, we were given an obviously smoking room (matches on the table, ashtray) during our stay at the Novotel Freiburg (Breisgau), Germany. Luckily, the smoking smell was almost not to be recognized. I just checked again, I can't find any "non smoking room" box to tick, when booking an Accor-room on any Accor-website. Just a "100% non smoking hotel" may be selected, but this would leave out any non 100%-free-hotel. Am I blind or has Accor forgotten about this booking issue? Of course, during check-in one should be asked as well, but being more regular at IHG-hotels (my IHG profile is preselected to non-smoking rooms) I did not even notice that we had not been asked, if a smoking-room would be ok. So is the only way out to mention during check-in "please, only a non-smoking room" (if one is still available)?

I am happy to read that I am not the only that miss this functionnality on Accor website!

To avoid problem, I always add in the "message to the hotel" section of the booking process that I want a non-smoking room. Since then, I never got the problem again (a part from the so called non smoking room that smelled ciagrettes and had an ash tray ...)
