AccorHotels debuts World-First Luxurious Orient Express Hotel

AccorHotels is proud to announce the first Orient Express hotel will open in the landmark King Power Mahanakhon Building in Bangkok. Imprinted in both history and imagination, the Orient Express brand has been reinvented for the future, with a vision to build a collection of prestigious hotels, steeped in tradition, myth and adventure.
Property should open Q1 2019.

Great to hear, although I find Accor's management spends far too little time multiplying the number of their high-end brands, vs. e.g. ensuring uniform standards or improving coverage (seems like they can even poach a property off Marwood!)...

Actually I wonder if they are not participating like Raffles, then why people will stay there? For me I rather stay in Shangri-la or other brand.

It is my understanding that Raffles is LeClub participating (with an upgrade ceiling of a Junior Suite), but not Accor Plus participating. Am I mistaken?

ahhhh you are probably right. why I keep mistaken about this.

So go back to my first point, If you cannot earn and enjoy LCAH in OE, so why it is matter that OE is part of Accor?

Hopefully the status of Le Club participation will be adjusted once the first hotel opens and the brand is officially (re)launched. Otherwise you're right, if I had a choice between a participating hotel and a non-participating hotel, there's a very low chance I'm going to the non-participating one.

If a hotel is not participating, then it's essentially the same as staying in an independent hotel XYZ. While I might stay in such hotel if I hear that it's very good, and if there are not a lot of decent alternatives in that town, but in Bangkok given the choices available there is not a snowball's chance in hell that I will stay in any kind of non-participating hotel, Accor or whatever other brand.
