New hotel openings 2017
Seems like we do not have a thread for that, so it seems long overdue. Feel free to merge if I am wrong.
Now, with the current crappy private sales, where breakfast is not included across pretty much all geographies, your attention should turn to the much-underrated brand Ibis Styles. This brand is a way for Accor to coax their poor management and F&B people to cough up buffet breakfasts at any rate, so for the most part (some hotels somehow negotiated their way out of compulsory breakfasts) this should be your go-to brand in case a promotion does not include breakfast rates and you are not Patsy Stone.
Ibis Styles properties are often conversions from other brands, and more recently, quite a lot of new builds joined the brand. Don't get fooled by the Ibis branding - the properties often offer a much better standard, outstanding design and many unexpected amenities, but for some reason they did not go for, or were allowed to go for, the Mercure brand.
Some of the more recent and upcoming openings:
ibis Styles Bremen Altstadt (operational)
I somehow missed the moment it opened, but it appears to be a new opening and a very modern and stylish to boot, in a charming German city where your only other options are red and blue Ibises and a Swissotel
ibis Styles Tbilisi Center (March 2017)
Another new option after the existing Mercure in the capital of Georgia (the country). Now keep fingers crossed for a new opening in Batumi...
Ibis Styles Basel City (March 2017)
The third Accor property next to the SBB station (where trains for other Swiss cities and the Zurich airport depart and arrive) bridges the gap between the Novotel and the non-point-earning ibis budget already on location.
ibis Styles New York LaGuardia Airport (June 2017)
Ever being anywhere near LaGuardia is hardly exciting, but news of this hotel's opening is, as it is the first new Accor hotel in the US for ages and the first Ibis hotel stateside, which may signal Accor is starting to actively go after this underserved market.
Apart from the three above, you can find ibis Styles hotels in most of the major cities of Europe, Asia and Australia, and a smattering across less-then-obvious destinations for Accor.
In particular, a number of new or extensively refurbished Ibis Styles have been opened in Central and Eastern Europe over 2016, especially in secondary cities underserved before where you don't have many international-branded options. Such locations include Lviv in the Ukraine, Klaipeda in Latvia and a number of smaller cities in Poland.
In terms of cheap-treat tourist destinations for you to benefit from the private sale for personal enjoyment, look towards Budapest, where two old Mercures were completely revamped into Ibis Styles, as well as Barcelona, featuring two new builds. Travellers to the UK are also now well-served by new green-pillow properties in Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow and Edinburgh, among others.
Do note that Ibis Styles, as other Ibis hotels, only give half the points that more upscale brands do, but starting this year Accor seems not to want you to focus on money but rather nights spent with them, so feel free to penny-pinch and beef up your night count with the green pillow brand.

Ibis styles brand does offer more flexibility for the hotel in terms of brand standards such as the green book, inclusive options and no privilege room requirement while being at a lower price in terms of the management cut compared to Mecure.

Why would it be odd? There're always the likes of Holiday Inn Express, Comfort Inns near these US airports, why not Ibis Styles? At least they serve better breakfast than HIE...I hope no doubt La Guardia feels like a bus terminal sometimes.

Accorhotels is to add a Novotel property close to Stansted airport later this year, with the rebranding of the existing Hilton London Stansted Airport.Located around five minutes from the airport terminal, the hotel was purchased by the Arora Group last year, and is set to undergo a “major renovation programme” over the coming months, including the addition of the new Novotel ‘N room’ concept.

The Novotel Canary Wharf has changed dates a few times, and is now planned to open in February.
