Expiry of Accor points
How long after the last stay do Accor points expire? Is there any easy way to extend the expiry deadline?
|
According to the new rules 1 year after last stay, but probably all points operations on account will extend validity for 1 year.

So say my last stay is May 10 2016, then I have to stay at least a night before May 10 2017 otherwise my 20,000 points will be all gone?

I could, of course, be completely wrong. |

I could be wrong, but I think Accor LeClub has transitioned to a calendar-year based system. So if you stayed during 2016, I think you'd need one night stay during 2017.
I could, of course, be completely wrong. 7.7. Validity of Rewards Points Rewards Points are valid for 365 days from the date of the event generating credit. For Rewards Points collected after a stay at a participating or Partner hotel, this date is the date of Check-out. The validity of Rewards Points collected by a Member is extended by 365 days each time the Member stays at a participating or Partner hotel that is eligible for earning Points. If the Member does not stay at a participating or partner hotel that allows earning Points during a period of 365 consecutive days, all the Rewards Points in his or her account, whatever their origin, will be lost without prior notice, without being able to restore or transfer these Rewards Points. |
For what it's worth, my experience was this:
I had a stay 9-10 Dec 2015 in Germany. I did a miles --> points transfer from another FF programme (Finnair) which added 500 pts to my Accor programme at the end of Nov 2016. I redeemed the pts for a 40€ voucher since it was just over 2000 pts. I stayed a few nights at the Novotel in Montréal 23-26 dec 2016. I never lost/had any points expire. Perhaps just the activity of depositing points kept my account and points active. |
Previously, it appeared that non-stay point activity extended the point validity listed on the web site. But now instead of a date, it says "valid for life*"
*Subject to staying in a participating hotel at least once a year I can't tell if this is a change in policy or not. I might not get to Europe this year. |
Just found this out the hard way. Only 5k points, but still ...... experience. No warning when it is about to happen either.

I would complain if you receive marketing emails as:
Once you have agreed to receive electronic communications from the Le Club AccorHotels programme, you receive two reminder emails, 3 months and then 1 and a half months before the expiry of your Rewards points. |

(from the points expiry page) From experience I have seen accounts with points about to expire without any reminder e-mail from Accor. Ugly customer service, at its worst. Once you have agreed to receive electronic communications from the Le Club AccorHotels programme, you receive two reminder emails, 3 months and then 1 and a half months before the expiry of your Rewards points. |
0 stays this year (2017)
0 stays in 2016 0 stays in 2015 0 stays in 2014 few stays in 2013 Points have not expired. May be it was in the past because of some partner activity once a year. When should I expect points to disappear (last partner points transfer in May 2017) on Dec 31 2017 or May 2018? |

Any DP for the points from Club Opinions surveys? Looks like I won’t be back in Accor’s footprint until 2019, and it would be nice to build a bit of a point balance ahead of that holiday if it was going to ‘stick’
