PlanetRx closed

I noticed the previous thread on the future of Clickrewards and thought that this was relevant. PlanetRx closed their store on March 12.
I found this out after placing an order this morning to get my wife the 500 bonus points through clickrewards. The order seemed to have gone through, but the message on the final page (the one with the order confirmation number) stated that they shut the doors on 03/12/2001. I hope that they do not take the money and run (less than $12).

Having completed the Northwest 10k mile promo for myself (very easy way to earn 10,000 miles - see the NW forum for details if interested), I needed to find one more way to earn some partner credits for my son's NW account.

Last night, I signed him up for a ClickRewards account through the Delta promo, earning 750 miles w/ first purchase. Although it is a Delta sponsored promo, the ClickRewards points do not need to be redeemed through Delta. I ordered a $2.49 bottle of children chewable vitamins through PlanetRx. Being that he was a first time customer, this netted him an additional 500 miles. With shipping, the total came to $6.94. The vitamins earned him another 3 big miles. I completed the order around 11:30pm on Friday, checked his ClickRewards account at 7:00am on Saturday and saw the miles had already posted. Another five minutes later and and I had them set for transfer to his NW account! So, for less than $7, I earned him 1253 bonus miles and completed the Northwest 10k mile promo for him.

Heck, I could care less if the vitamins ever show up on my front door.

MileageAddict: When you made this purchase for your son, did you pay with YOUR credit card, using his name for the order, but your name for payment? If you did this, then they will give credit to whomever placed the order and will be the recipient, regardless of who paid for it? Do I have this right? I want to help my daughter get the 10K also, but wasn't sure how to do purchases for her, so if you can clarify this for me I would really appreciate it.

I created a new ClickRewards account in his name and the CR miles earned were transferred to his WorldPerks account.

I did use a credit card with my name on it but since it was being shipped to his name but at the same address as my credit card billing address, there was no hassle at all.

Go for it.

My wife received her 500 clickmile bonus later in the day, I guess they are not completely closed yet, perhaps they are selling off leftover inventory.

Well, I just opened an account for my daughter and placed an order at PlanetRX which actually still had available a vitamin supplement I regularly use! They let me set up the account and place the order so hopefully she will at least get the 500 clickmile bonus that I can then transfer. Thanks everyone for this. I had thought about it but I wasn't sure about using a credit card with a name different from the order-placer's name. I guess the key is that the billing address be the same for both.

My daughter had just asked for my help in getting her NWA account up from 14,000 miles to 20,000 last week, so I would really like to help her get the bonus. (See, I raised that girl right!--She knows the value of an airline mile.)
