Appreciate the responses so far.
My CC had expired in my profile so I had to enter a new one on the actual reservation page.
And you are correct--after hitting the radio button I was brought to another page, but the rate summary was at $227 plus taxes. After entering in my information, the rate was confirmed at $275 plus taxes. C$ is almost par to US$, so that wasn't the source of the confusion either.
I couldn't cancel the reservation because it was done within 24 hours (property requires 48 hours to cancel), and nobody at Hilton could modify or cancel the reservation. Hence my frustration. The rate
did change between the summary and the booking, and I was powerless to get out of it.
I'm not bent out of shape (it's only $48), rather, I want to make sure this doesn't happen to others, as I don't think this specific incident was handled properly.
Thanks to a PM from a friendly FT'er, this is now being looked at seriously by someone at Hilton. ^
