This weekend in Alicante (Costa Blanca, another part of the Spanish Coast)

glasses of lager (cañas) 0.8Euros/1Euro

Rum & Coke Approx 3Euros

Assorted tapas (empanadillas, tortilla de patatas, racion de anchoas, ensalada rusa) about 1 to 1.2Euros each

Bocadillo (sandwich in crusty Spanish bread) 3Euros

The Menu del Dia I had on Saturday was 5.75Euros (starter, main, dessert and a drink)

If you go to McDonalds, Burger King or Pans & Company a non-discount combi meal will cost between 6-7Euros.

I'd suggest you go to the Torremolinos equivalent of a pollastre. A full chicken should cost about 5.5Euros, half a chicken about 3 Euros. Make your own salad to go with it.

There's been a recent boom for kebabs in Spain, these should cost between 3 and 5 Euros

And whatever you do DON'T try paella in the Costa del Sol. It is NOT a local speciality and it will be dreadful. I absolutely guarantee you of that. Try Pinchos Morunos instead.

The prices I've quoted are those a Spaniard would expect to pay in Spain, in a tourist trap like Torremolinos I really have no idea of what they'll be wanting to 'clavar' from you. I spent an hour in Torremolinos once on the way to Morrocco out of a morbid sense of curiosity. I can't imagine a reason why I would ever return.
