Generally speaking, I also agree, but in the case where the ticket cost and any additions to it or subtractions from it must be accounted for on an expense account, why would I be interested in kicking in any amount of money out of my pocket?
This does bring up an interesting point, though, namely if you actually wanted to fly via YYZ, you could book a YUL-YVR first, and then change it to YUL-YYZ-YVR, thereby saving $8.40.
