A few tips:
1. Check award availability on CO and NW sites-- especially the NW site for availability on AF and some international partners. IMHO, the NW site is easier to find space on than the KL/AF sites. Once you find available seats, call Flying Blue to book by phone (for no extra fee! Except the crazy high taxes

)
2. Watch the Web Awards-- very much a bargain if you can snag them. Yeah, SFO--Europe can be half the les, and the Europe boundary through Flying Blue includes Morocco and, last time I checked, Tel Aviv.
3. Flying Blue offers one way awards, and they will send you to Asia via Europe.... though you can't claim a stopover on a one way, it may be handy to know you can fly to Tokyo via AMS for 30k in coach or 45k in Biz.
Consider getting yourself to Europe on a paid ticket then using a Web Award from Europe-- South Africa, India or the Middle East can be had using your 50k.
I hope that helps.
