AGREE AGREE AGREE!!! Many years ago, on a family trip to Mexico I ended up in the dreaded middle seat, right between 2 "people of size". There was also a "person of size" in the seat behind me. The two on either side of me lifted their armrests to avail themselves to my seat. The one behind me had her knees so far into my back that I though my kidneys might explode. The flight attendant saw the situation and immediate moved me to another seat--in First Class. I call these people "space invaders".
For future reference, if this should happen again you should insist that the airline make a
full seat available to you
before you sit down. The phrase, "This is an IDB" should help. And under no circumstances should you allow another passenger to raise the arm rest. If they can't sit in their seat with the arm rest down, it is
their problem, not yours.
