It's not the first time it's happened but after sitting next to a larger-than-average man on a recent (short) flight and having to lean towards the window, my back actually hurt. Even though I can see it's been discussed ad nauseum elsewhere, I still think the single most irritating thing about flying anywhere is being squeezed next to someone who should have bought two seats but instead is invading part of mine.

That, and airline companies who don't do anything about it.
AGREE AGREE AGREE!!! Many years ago, on a family trip to Mexico I ended up in the dreaded middle seat, right between 2 "people of size". There was also a "person of size" in the seat behind me. The two on either side of me lifted their armrests to avail themselves to my seat. The one behind me had her knees so far into my back that I though my kidneys might explode. The flight attendant saw the situation and immediate moved me to another seat--in First Class. I call these people "space invaders".
