Thanks. The French is no problem. The info at the DGAC site was still actually a bit vague for my purposes, but the PDF as the bottom of the page gave sufficient detail. The question was regarding strike-anywhere matches, either carry-on (specifically prohibited by both TSA and DGAC) or checked (specifically prohibited by TSA, presumably prohibited by DGAC).
And why, pray tell, would I be interested in transporting strike-anywhere matches? I'm not, but a 15-year-old French student who is staying with us for a few weeks this summer wanted to take some home with her. It's apparently considered quite cool to be able to strike a match anywhere (possibly on the rear of one's jeans, I gather) and this sort of match is hard (or possibly impossible) to come by in France. She doesn't smoke, so I don't see the point myself. But then I'm not a 15-year-old French girl.
