Trip Report-RI Dulles South/Chantilly

Moved here after a not-so-great one night at the Gaithersburg CY. They had a room ready for me early (left GB at 10, ate, got here 11:30-12 ish) and, I requested, and received a nice upgrade to a 2BR. Thanks! (I had aspirations to cook....well, let's say that didn't happen!) The hotel didn't seem very busy....a wedding group was staying here, but the palce was far from full!

Excellent staff...among the best I have encountered. The hotel is Marriott-operated but owned by someone else....and honestly, you can tell who signs the staffs' paychecks!

VERY clean rooms, convenient to Dulles (no shuttle, but I am sure they would call you a cab, or you could do SuperShuttle). Next to Famous Dave's BBQ, Red Robin, Target, Wachovia Bank, Office Depot and several other little food places..(Quizno's, Chipotle, etc.)

The A/C worked, the rooms were very clean, minimal airplane noise...and they go RIGHT overhead!

Nice breakfast, and pleasant attendants. They even dispatched a houseman to Target for regular syrup. The area for the food set-up is a bit small...bad planning on the part of the designers.....but there is a good amount of seating. This is also the ONLY Marriott-run ANYTHING where the attendant checked the TEMPERATURE on the food......KUDOS!

Nice pool, grill and health club. There is a life guard on duty when the pool is open.

I think the closest metro is 15 minutes away. You CAN go to Dulles and hop a bus into town..(stops at L"Enfant Plaza, and over is Rosslyn, plus a couple park-n-rides...it was about 3 bucks...a deal, but a MESS if you have lots of luggage!)

All in all, no real complaints. The smoke alarms in rooms went off about 4PM one afternoon...and I heard from another guest that there may have been a small "fire" in an a/c unit, but as of this writing, I was not able to confirm that. (Heard firetrucks a couple times...never saw them, hence I am not sure about that!)

We will return. If you need to be out here for any reason, this is a good choice! We came to this area due to a decent rate...67 bucks=and I will get a bonus bucks when I leave.....got a late check out no problem!

Thanks to this hotel.....great job!
