Suggest you check the sticky at the top of this forum for possible discounts on your intended route. It is generally advisable to purchase tickets as early as possible, since Amtrak has several fare buckets, and fares rarely go down over time. You can protect yourself against a possible change of plans by not picking up your purchased tickets until you are certain that you will use them. You can get a 100% refund on purchased tickets that have not been printed. (There is a 10% refund charge that applies only to tickets that have already been printed.) Whether you purchase your tickets on line or over the phone, you can specify that you will pick your tickets up at Seattle station as your ticket delivery option. (Seattle has a Quik Trak ticketing machine, so you won't have to deal with an agent there.) Or, if you prefer, you can pick up your tickets at any Amtrak station that offers ticketing, including Homewood.

You shouldn't have to show passports when picking up your tickets, especially since tickets can be printed at a Quik Trak machine.

I'm not sure whether purchasing a $200 Amtrak gift card with your AGR credit card would qualify to allow you to transfer points out. The AGR Service Center can probably answer this question for you.
