Ah, I see. I dont think the computer has ever offered me one since I became an elite, but I have been checking in online and printing my BPs off-airport anyways.
Yes, I loved it every time the computer offered me one when I was an in-FF. However, it took me a while to realize that was indeed well worth it. Tickets were usually sub 200 for cheap 2-3 hour flights, so I rarely got those. But I have used them this year, and its a great way for non-elites to upgrade.
From what I know, it is based on the fact that all elites requested upgrades have been confirmed, and there is still enough space left.
