Make sure you don't forget this! We were told a few weeks ago at the gate by groundstaff that we would be able to recover it. I wasn't paying attention and let them take the buggy to put in the hold. Of course it didn't come out at LHR - I have a feeling they did try to recover it as it was the only part of our luggage that didn't arrive in the US...
Just ask BA staff at the door, I'm sure they'll do their best to find some space for it.
