New to Amtrak - Pacific Surfliner

Hi everyone-

I did some searching but I guess I'm new enough to Amtrak I'm not sure what to search for.

I took Amtrak about 20 years ago when I was only 8; I remember it fondly (though maybe not so clearly!).

I booked a ticket from LA Union Station to San Diego this Sunday. I went the extra $14 and got a business seat. However, I'm not sure what to expect.

1) I get an assigned seat in business, right? So how do I assign it? Any suggestions on where to sit?

2) How early should I arrive for boarding? I got the first train, 7:20 AM. So I don't want to get up too early. I won't be checking bags.

3) How do I get my ticket? I chose the Amtrak kiosk option. I'm fairly certain these are at Union Station, right? Pretty self explanatory? I have signed up for the Amtrak points program, but no card in time for travel.

4) Any other specific suggestions for the Pacific Surfliner route?

I'm excited, I've been wanting to take this route for awhile. Last chance I had they were working on the tracks so I couldn't take the train past Pasadena.

Thanks for all your help
