Question Consultants: billing vs travel expenses?

Virtually all my work as a consultant involves travel -- which would explain why I'm on FT -- but I've recently been doing long-haul trips (10+ hrs) to customers in a rather expensive region (the rich bits of the Middle East), resulting in some pretty impressive expense reports, sometimes even approaching 1:1 with the bill for actual services rendered. On exactly one trip, I've even gone over parity, but that involved a "you need to be in Abu Dhabi tonight" call halfway through that resulted in my first five-figure expense claim. My travel is always within the customer's guidelines, and they haven't complained yet... so does it mean I should be charging more for my own work?

You other consultants out there, how's your ratio, and what kind of travel do you do?
