You can ticket with PMUs up until the day of expiration, regardless of your status. Similarly, you can fly tickets already upgraded with previously surrendered PMUs regardless of the date of expiration of those PMUs. So, if your PM expires Feb '09, but your PMUs expire May '09, you could use them to fly in April '10 (and that's without any parking shenanigans).
