735 in changed/new fall schedules ... interpretation?
Hi all -
I was under the impression that 735's were to be retired as soon as the 733's due to poor fuel economy ... in the updated schedules, I see 735's appearing in many routes that used to be either 319/320 or 733's ...
For instance, BTV-ORD is 763 miles ... the mainline flights/equipment has been 319/320's and 733/735's in the past, but almost exclusively 319/320 in recent months ... fall mainline flights, though, show a reversion to 735's only.
With high fuel prices, wouldn't a 319 use less fuel per passenger than a 735?
Or, does anyone else interpret 735's in the updated fall schedule as nothing more than a placeholder/earmark for either further equipment changes downwards (e.g., more UX flights) or (gulp) further route reductions to come?
Thanks in advance for your insight(s) ...
