BA's fee structure for award seats is absolutely shocking and I would welcome the opportunity to use the miles on AA, if they charge less. I realize that the taxes will probably be the same, but so far, the US-based airlines have not gotten anywhere close to BA's extortionate fees and surcharges for awards.
