I just called to book some F award tix. I didn't really expect them to be available because I'm neither calling way in advance nor last minute. The agent was really kind and helpful and suggested I call each night at about 12:15 est and see if seats have been released from the two week holds some have on them.

Anyone have luck doing this? It seems like such a pesty thing to do, but perhaps it's the only way short of spending double the miles or just buying ticket seeing as summer fares to Europe are a bargain right now.
