If you use a pretty loose definition of "crash", sure. That's pretty much what the guy is saying anyway.

1. Plane has gear trouble and the pilot makes a nice belly landing = nearly everyone survives.

2. Plane comes hurtling from the sky and embeds itself in a field = nearly everyone dies.
