Yup, in Mexico the UHT milk is the norm as well, because not everybody has a fridge (or has one that cools sufficiently to keep fresh milk safe).
Of course, UHT milk also has a distinctive taste that some might not like. I don't mind it at all, having spent plenty of time in the developing world and drinking it.
